Box Jumps: Landing, Progression & Technique
Box Jumps are a very important tool, but just as with everything else in a Strength program, teaching proper technique and methodology is important. When Athlete's understand why they are performing certain tasks, they are more likely to buy in and desire to achieve greater success. I undertsand the inherent competetive nature of the Box Jump. Athlete's want to jump on higher and higher boxes to say they jump the highest. If the goal is to see how high you jump, just test your vertical. Proper box height according your jumping ability is important. I feel there is no sense in performing a Box Jump if there is not a priority placed on: 1. Achieving triple extension, and 2. Proper landing in power position. Check out the video an please feel free to leave any comments. PTG!
